Aging and Spiritual Growth

The process of aging at every stage of life brings not only physical changes but also changes in our spiritual growth. The body begins to show the wear and tear of the years and does not respond to the vigor of years past but at the same time we can cultivate our inner spiritual resources. We may not be aware at the time, but we are continually having spiritual experiences. We seem to develop “wisdom of age.” Through life’s events, we see glimmers of goodness that encourages our faith and fills our spirit with joy.

The possibility of personal growth, revelation, healing and transformation exists right up until the very last breath is drawn. If we open ourselves to the mystery of the Holy Spirit, we can become a spiritual champion. We can grow from an infant to a deeply fulfilled person that soars with love and happiness.

We begin life with a new energized body capable of amazing physical feats that bring much joy and a spirit that requires development. As the years progress the spirit grows in wisdom and as life in the body slows, the spirit can learn to run, dance, leap, and bring unparalleled love and happiness to life. Life’s deeply felt experiences will change our life and make it richer — if we open our heart and allow it to happen.
